The Weinstein Co. drama, which is stuffed with huge Hollywood names, follows the life of Eugene Allen (Whitaker), a butler who served eight presidents living at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue between 1952 and 1986. As anybody who took a single social studies class in high school would know, Allen's tenure gave him front-row tickets to watch political and civil rights history being made.
