Oskanian: Meetings With Turkish FM Make No Sense Today
Armenia considers its relationship with Iran only in framework of bilateral relations, Armenian Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian stated at a press conference that took place in Yerevan today. This he said when asked about the attitude of the official Yerevan to the statement of the President of Iran, in which the latter called the Holocaust as a "myth". "We do not make any comments on those issues which surpass the framework of bilateral relations", the minister stated. Commenting on the Armenia-Turkey relationship, V. Oskanian stated that his meetings with his the Turkish counterpart made no sense if not directed to the achievement of concrete results. As he put it, Yerevan is not satisfied with the situation when Ankara is speculating on holding meetings, thus trying to create an impression for the international community that there is a real dialogue existing. "For us these meetings are senseless unless we make sure they could yield real results", V. Oskanian said. He also noted that during his last week meeting in Brussels with the EU Commissioner on enlargement, the Armenian-Turkish issues were discussed. V. Oskanian also specified that the EU didn't put in doubt the standard when states seeking the EU membership must have good relations with its neighbors.
