Robert Downey Jr. reteams with “Iron Man” helmer for “Chef” indie comedy

PanARMENIAN.Net - Robert Downey Jr. is reuniting with his Iron Man director Jon Favreau for Chef, Favreau's indie comedy financed by Aldamisa along with their finance partner Mark Manuel's Kilburn Media, The Hollywood Reporter said.

Aldamisa International will begin pre-sales in Cannes.

Favreau not only wrote the script, he will also direct and star in the indie. It's a character-driven piece that, according to Aldamisa, "follows a man who loses his chef job and starts up a food truck to reclaim his artistic promise, while simultaneously reclaiming his estranged family."

Downey joins Sofia Vergara, John Leguizamo and Bobby Cannavale, as The Hollywood Reporter previously reported.

Production will start July 8 in Los Angeles.

CAA packaged and arranged financing for Chef and will represent the film's U.S. distribution rights.

Aldamisa is in post on two Robert Rodriguez projects: Frank Miller's Sin City 2: A Dame to Kill For in 3-D and Robert Rodriguez's Machete Kills.

Favreau directed Downey in both Iron Man and Iron Man 2 and co-starred with the mega-star in Iron Man 3.
