Price of Gas Imported from Russia to Azerbaijan Fixed
From January 1, 2006 the price for gas imported from Russia to Azerbaijan will grow from $60 to $110 for one thousand cubic meters. The agreement was reached at the meeting of representatives of Gazprom and the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijani Republic. It was also noted that the amount of the imported gas in 2006 will remain unchangeable (4.5 billion cubic meters) and will as usual be consumed at the electric power stations for processing energy.
The same price was for fixed for Georgia. As for Armenia, the issue of transit of the Russian gas via Georgia to Armenia still remains unsettled. To remind, Georgia gas received 10% of the gas destined for Armenia so far, i.e. Georgia received fuel to the sum of $6 for each thousand cubic meters. Presently Gazprom claims a 10-year term contract preferring to pay money. Taking into account the rise in prices the tariff for transit should make $11. However official Tbilisi says it's too little and demands $30 for thousand cubic meters.
