RPA votes down motion on March 1 events committee formation![]() May 20, 2013 - 15:07 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Formation of an ad hoc committee for March 1, 2008 events was put on vote at the Armenian National Assembly on May 20. Leader of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) parliamentary group Galust Sahakyan announced RPA’s decision to vote against the motion due to a legitimacy problem. Member of the Armenian National Congress (ANC) Gagik Jhangiryan stated, in turn, that the political majority came up with 7 offers on the issue, with all of them approved, except for the one regarding inviting investigators to parliament. ANC parliamentary group representative Levon Zurabyan noted that the majority issued public guarantees in December 2012 that the bill will be adopted following the elections. The bill was rejected by a vote of 58 to 48 with 2 abstentions. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
