Samsung will release a new range of smaller Ultra HD television sets in June, the company has announced, according to Digital Spy.
Samsung will debut 55 and 65-inch versions of its 4K TV range in Korean markets before a likely worldwide release.
Exact dates and pricing are still to be confirmed, although the sets will be far cheaper than Samsung's 85-inch S9 model, which debuted at this year's CES event in Las Vegas.
Costing upwards of £30,000, Samsung's S9 has the ability to up-scale HD and full-HD imagery to ultra-HD quality and comes loaded with the firm's patented Precision Black Pro technology and Ultimate Dimming control functionality.
A quad-core processor resides under the hood and a 120watt 3-way, 2.2 channel sound offers audio output that is said to be around six times better than a standard television set.
The new range of Samsung 4K TVs will go head-to-head with Sony's 55 and 65-inch Bravia X9 series.
Sony's Ultra HD television sets will cost between £4,000 and £6,000 when they debut in mid-June.
