January 24 OSCE Chairman-in-Office Will Visit Yerevan
«The new OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Belgian FM is expected to visit Yerevan January 24,» Armenian FM Vartan Oskanian stated at today's news conference on the results of the MFA activities in 2005. Karel de Gucht will be in Armenia within the framework of his regional visit. It should be reminded that January 9 new OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Belgian Foreign Minister Karel de Gucht stated that among the Organization priorities in the new year will be the issue of settlement of «frozen» conflicts. The OSCE intends to attain progress in the matter, he said. The first programmed statement of the OSCE new Chair will take place in Vienna January 12 at the meeting of the Permanent Council that will consider the priorities in the OSCE activities this year. It is already clear now that OSCE actions regarding the Nagorno Karabakh conflict will hardly significantly differ from those taken in previous years, Karel de Gucht emphasized. Besides, V. Oskanian reported that Georgian FM Gela Bezhuashvili will visit Armenia January 16-17.
