Nairit chemical plant’s future to be discussed in early June?May 23, 2013 - 19:34 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Representatives of Russian Itera company will visit Armenia in late May to discuss Nairit chemical plant’s operation. According to 168 zham daily, the Russian side stands ready to pay USD 100 mln and regularly pay the employees’ salaries. However, it refuses to assume the previous obligations of the plant. As RA Ministry of Energy told PanARMENIANNet, the talks with international companies over Nairit plant are ongoing, with Itera company noted among the parties concerned. As “Vedomosti” earlier reported, Russian company Itera, jointly with Rosneft OAO, is considering the possibility of modernizing Armenia’s Nairit chemical plant. Armenian acting Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Armen Movsissyan earlier said that the plant modernization will cost about $400-500 mln in investments. In 2006, 90% of Nairit shares were sold to British Rainoville Property Limited for $40, with Armenian government owning the rest 10% shares.
