Allison Williams, Emilia Clarke to star in Romeo & Juliet rethink “Rosaline”

Allison Williams and Emilia Clarke are in line to star in Rosaline, it has been confirmed, Digital Spy reveals.

It was rumoured last month that Girls actress Williams was in talks for a key role in the revisionist take on Romeo & Juliet, which retells the story from the perspective of Romeo's jilted first love Rosaline.

Williams and Clarke are set to play Rosaline and Juliet respectively, while Dave Franco is in talks to play Romeo, but no deals have yet been made.

Adapted from Rebecca Serle's novel When You Were Mine, the script has been written by (500) Days of Summer scribes Scott Neustadter and Michael H Weber.

The project is now set to move to Universal, where Shawn Levy (Real Steel) will produce.

Lily Collins and True Blood's Deborah Ann Woll were previously rumoured to be in consideration for the roles of Rosaline and Juliet.
