RA FM: Karabakh Negotiations under OSCE Patronage Inspire Optimism
The Nagorno Karabakh settlement remains one of the main problems of the RA foreign policy and the negotiations held under the OSCE patronage inspire optimism, Armenian Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian said when presenting the annual report to the Prime Minister on January 17. The report records some preconditions for progress in the negotiation process in 2006. "We still adhere to the opinion that the problem may be settled only with recognizing the right of self-determination of the Karabakh people," Vartan Oskanian said.

In the words of the Minister, the maintenance of regional stability remains a priority of Armenian's policy and MFA agenda. "We abide by the complementary policy and exert every effort to prevent split lines in the region. In 2005 the Armenian Foreign Ministry also tried to secure Armenia's engagement in all the processes and programs referring to the region," Vartan Oskanian said, Caucasus Press reported.
