During a short-term visit to Akhalkalaki Georgian parliament speaker Nino Burjanadze said the Georgian authorities are doing the best to prevent the penetration of the bird flu from Turkey. The residents of Armenian-populated Samtskhe Javakheti region of Georgia are most of all anxious about the issue since the region verges on Turkey. To avoid the epidemic the people of Samtskhe Javakhetia voluntarily kill domestic birds, reports A-Info.
