“Muppets” helmer in talks for Johnny Depp’s “Alice in Wonderland” sequel

PanARMENIAN.Net - James Bobin, who directed The Muppets for Disney, is in talks to return to the studio for its sequel to the 2010 hit Alice in Wonderland, which earned more than $1 billion at the worldwide box office, The Hollywood Reporter said.

The discussions are in early stages and sources say the helmer, who is currently shooting The Muppets … Again! for the studio, has yet to meet with producers Joe Roth, Suzanne Todd and Jennifer Todd.

Linda Woolverton, who wrote the script for the first Alice, was tapped to pen the sequel in late 2012.

It is unclear at this stage if Alice’s Johnny Depp and Mia Wasikowska will return.

Bobin caught Hollywood’s eye directing HBO’s musical-themed show, Flight of the Conchords.
