Montserrat Caballe: Artsakh source of ChristianityJune 6, 2013 - 11:37 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Artsakh is the very source of Christianity, world-famed Spanish soprano Montserrat Caballe said following her tour of Ghazanchetsots Cathedral in Shushi. NKR President Bako Sahakyan gave the singer and her daughter a present of gold crosses sanctified by Archbishop Pargev Martirosyan in Gandzasar Monastery. As Ms Caballe noted, she was visiting Artsakh not only in a capacity of a singer, but also as a UN goodwill ambassador and UNESCO peace envoy. The singer, accompanied by the wife of Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, Gohar and well-known astrophysicist Gagik Israelyan, who arranged Ms Caballe’s visit, returned to Yerevan where the famous singer is due to perform on June 9. To perform along with Ms Caballe in Yerevan’s Spendiarian Opera and Ballet National Theatre are her daughter, well-known soprano Montserrat Martí and baritone David Babayants, with Eduard Topchyan and Ramon Tebar as conductors. Well-known English basist Glenn Hughes, keyboardist Derek Sherinian, singer Al Bano and astronaut Charlie Duke also travelled to Artsakh with Ms Caballe.
