“Vampire Diaries” star to topline “Dermaphoria” cult novel adaptation

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Vampire Diaries star Joseph Morgan, along with Walton Goggins, Ron Perlman and newcomer Nicole Badaan will topline Dermaphoria, an adaptation of Craig Clevenger's cult novel, The Hollywood Reporter said.

Ross Clarke wrote the script and is directing. He is also producing with his Keep the Car Running partner Teryn Fogel and Upload Films' Nick Thurlow.

Described as Memento meets Breaking Bad, the story centers on a brilliant chemist (Morgan) who wakes up in jail after a drug-lab explosion and is suffering from amnesia. Trapped between cops who want to arrest him and heavies who will stop at nothing to get the formula buried deep inside his head, the man needs to piece together memories fragmented by a powerful new drug and find his missing girlfriend.

The movie is heading toward a June 23 start in New Orleans.

Morgan is coming off several seasons of Vampire Diaries and will now star in its spinoff, The Originals. The actor has the thriller Open Grave with Sharlto Copley in the can.
