Emma Watson to headline

PanARMENIAN.Net - Emma Watson is set to headline "Queen of the Tearling" for Warner Bros, AceShowbiz reported citing Variety. In the big-screen adaptation of Erika Johanson's upcoming novel, the Sam of "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" not only lands a leading role, but is also tapped as executive producer with "Harry Potter" producer David Heyman also attached to it. As of now, no director or writer is on board yet.

Dubbed "a female 'Game of Thrones' " by its publisher Harper Collins, the novel is part of fantasy trilogy that centers on 19-year-old princess Kelsea Glynn. Partly inspired by then-Senator Obama's speech in 2007, Glynn must reclaim her deceased mother's throne and redeem her kingdom, the Tearling, from forces of corruption and dark magic of The Red Queen, the sorceress-tyrant of the neighboring country, Mortmesne.

Heyman will join forces with Jeff Clifford to produce the feature under the banner of Heyday Films. Courtenay Valenti and Racheline Benveniste are set to oversee it for the studio.

Watson is currently seen in "This Is the End", in which she made a cameo appearance along with Rihanna and Mindy Kaling. In a recent interview with USA Today, the English beauty says that she's interested in taking on theater.

"I'd love to try theater. I've never done it before. I did some theater at Brown. I love the camaraderie of a theater group," says Watson. "As soon as I graduate, that's my next [thing]."
