Samsung to supply displays for Apple despite ongoing spat – report

PanARMENIAN.Net - Samsung will continue to supply displays for Apple despite the ongoing legal spat between the two tech companies, according to a report, Digital Spy said.

ETNews cites industry sources claiming that the South Korean firm is readying 7.9- and 9.7-inch screens for the next-generation iterations of the iPad and iPad mini.

The report states that the displays in question feature a resolution of 2,048x1,536 pixels, backing up intense rumours that Apple will include a Retina screen in the second-generation iPad mini.

Apple had been tipped to end its reliance on Samsung by finding alternative suppliers due to the ongoing patent dispute between the two firms that has raged across numerous territories.

Sharp and LG Display also provide panels for the Cupertino firm, while Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company has been touted as a potential alternative for Apple to turn to, in place of Samsung.

The latest report suggests that Samsung will deliver the iPad mini displays by Q3 of this year and the larger screens in Q4, giving an indication of potential release windows for the new iPads.
