Samsung to roll out LTE-Advanced Galaxy S4

PanARMENIAN.Net - Samsung has confirmed plans to launch an LTE-Advanced model of the Galaxy S4, capable of transmitting data twice as fast as the standard version, Digital Spy said.

Company CEO JK Shin revealed that the new handsets will be powered by Qualcomm processors, and could land in South Korea as early as this month.

"We'll be the first with the commercial launch of the advanced 4G version of the smartphone," Reuters quotes Shin as saying.

Samsung's shares have decreased in value by almost $20 billion since analysts cut their sales forecast on the Galaxy S4 based on its market performance at launch, but Shin remains upbeat about the phone's prospects.

"S4 sales remain strong. It's selling far stronger than the [Galaxy] S3... and the new LTE-Advanced [4G] phone will be another addition to our high-end segment offerings that ensure healthy profit margins," he added.

Samsung has already introduced two alternate models of the S4 - the water and dust-proof Galaxy S4 Active and the 10x optical zoom-equipped Galaxy S4 Zoom.

Retailers are also taking pre-orders for the scaled-down Galaxy S4 Mini in various territories.
