Baku: Peaceful Settlement of Karabakh Problem - Azerbaijan's Biggest Concession
"The reports about the possibility of concluding any written agreement at the meeting of the Armenian and Azerbaijani Presidents do not correspond to reality," head of the department of press and information policy at the Azerbaijani MFA Tair Tagizade said. "I think this meeting will appear as another possibility for the Azeri party to continue the complicated but positive peaceful negotiations," he noted. "The position of official Baku is as follows: our biggest concession is the adherence to peaceful settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict despite the seizure of Azerbaijani territories. As for the military settlement of the conflict, being a representative of the Foreign Ministry I should not speak of it, though one should know that demanding equal concessions from the aggressor and victim of aggression is not ethic. Moreover it's an incorrect approach to the problem. Thus, although Azerbaijan considers peaceful settlement to be a priority, the current situation cannot last long," Tagizade stated. To remind, Armenian and Azerbaijani President Robert Kocharian and Ilham Aliyev will meet today in Rambouillet.
