Head of OSCE Mission to Moldova, Ambassador William Hill stated that the situation in Transdnestria "cannot be compared with the developments in Kosovo… There is no ethnic and religious hostility available in Kosovo. It is considerably easier to achieve settlement in Moldova and the measures applied to Kosovo are not essential here." When commenting on the statement Free Europe Foundation Director Oleg Sapozhnikov said, "Hill's opinion can be called sensational. The Moldovan authorities recoil from the Kosovo precedent. It's quite another mater when a voice of the OSCE speaks of it." Sapozhnikov underscored that as a matter of fact Hill's statement gives a prescription to what can be leveled to the Kosovo precedent. This is the presence of ethnic and religious conflict. In short, the OSCE admits that Abkhazia, South Ossetia and Nagorno Karabakh that survived such conflicts need the measures applied to Kosovo, reported IA Regnum.
