Helen Mirren to star as French chef in "Hundred-Foot Journey"

"The Hundred-Foot Journey" has found its leading cast. As AceShowbiz revealed citing entertainment media sources, the Elizabeth II depicter in 2006's "The Queen" is set to headline the culinary competition movie with her portrayal of eccentric and famous chef Madame Mallory.

Adapted from Richard C. Morais' novel of the same title, the film centers on an Indian family that moves to Southern France and opens an Indian restaurant a hundred feet across the street from a Michelin-starred French restaurant owned by Madame Mallory. The French chef later reluctantly forms a mentoring bond with the family's son.

"90210" and "Switched at Birth" actor Manish Dayal is also secured to star as Hassan Haji in the drama, which is slated to start production this fall in France and India. Serving as producers for the pic are Steven Spielberg, Oprah Winfrey and Juliet Blake.

Dreamworks has announced release date for "The Hundred-Foot Journey", which is ready to be released domestically on August 8, 2014.

Supporting "Monsters University" by voicing Dean Hardscrabble, English actress Mirren will next be seen in action-heavy "Red 2", which stars Bruce Willis and John Malkovich among others.
