Protest Action against Armenian Monuments Demolition Held in Paris
Representatives of three Armenian political parties, ARF Dashnaktsutyun, Ramkavar amd Hnchak, with the support of the CCAF, 1000 French people of Armenian origin met Tuesday a hundred meters from the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Paris at 7 p.m (Paris time) to protest against the recent destruction of the Khachkars of Armenian cemetery of Djulfa (Nakhichevan) by the Azeri army. The Armenians require the international community to condemn this cultural crime on a priceless treasure of the world heritage. On the podium, drawn up to the foot of the Eiffel Tower, several speakers of the Armenian organizations and representatives of French National Parliament followed one another by showing the crime of Azerbaijan. The President of the CCAF, Alexis Govciyan, solemnly called upon Baku to apologize. The European Parliament condemned this barbarian act firmly, by 85 votes to 5 (Feb. 17, 2006), and should send a mission of investigation on the archeological site of Djulfa next spring.
