Sargsyan: Turkey Launched International Misinformation Campaign
The settlement of the Armenian-Turkish relations is one of the most pressing regional issues, says the report titled "Directions of National Security Strategy of the Republic of Armenia" issued by Secretary at the National Security Council at the RA President, Defense Minister Serge Sargsyan. "This problem directly influences stability in the region and the development of the regional cooperation predetermining the most important regional progresses," the report says. In the Minister's words, the tensed Armenian-Turkish relations cause a number of threats for Armenia's national security and impede sustainable development of the republic. Specifically, he noted, Turkey is trying to force Armenians of the world to abandon the policy of the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide, since in Turkey's opinion it jeopardizes its territorial integrity.

Besides, in Sargsyan's words, this issue appears as one of the principal obstacles on Turkey's path towards the European Union. "Over this reason Turkey has launched an international misinformation campaign. However despite this considerable progress was fixed and a number of states recognized the Armenian Genocide lately," the report notes. "We view the Genocide recognition within the context of restoration of historical justice and Turkey's over-estimation of its past. Armenia understands that this is a hard process and it's directly bound with the establishment of democratic values in Turkey," the Minister said. "Thereupon our nation sees the resolution of the problem as a precondition of Turkey's democratization and abides by the principle of pressure on Turkey for this purpose," Sargsyan added.
