ARMENIAN-TURKISH RECONCILIATION COMMISSION RECURRENT MEETING PLANNED LATE IN JANUARY
The recurrent meeting of the Armenian-Turkish Reconciliation Commission will be held in New York January 22-24. Commission member, assistant professor of Yerevan State University Davit Hovhannisian told "Arminfo" agency. At the same time he did not specify the questions to be considered at the meeting, noting that one could speak about them only after it is completed. Let us remind that the Armenian-Turkish Reconciliation Commission began activities over a year ago. The Armenian party ceased its participation in the commission December 2001 after the Turkish party unilaterally appealed to the International Center for Transitional Justice demanding not to consider the compliance of the Armenian Genocide in Ottoman Turkey in 1915-1923 to the UN Convention on Genocide of 1948. Whereas the parties had earlier agreed to submit the issue for consideration by that international legal organization.
