Letter to Eurovision Part of Baku Consistent Struggle against Karabakh
The statement of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan, addressed to Eurovision, seems senseless at the first glance, while it is actually part of the consistent struggle, Azerbaijan leads at all levels against the NKR, international law expert, political scientist Levon Melik-Shahnazaryan stated in a conversation with a PanARMENIAN.Net correspondent. In his words, the statement itself is a violation of truth over the number of Azeris, who left the zone of hostilities, as well as the size of the territory under control of the NKR Defense Army. "By finding fault in the biography of the young singer, who was really born in the Nagorno Karabakh Republic, Azeri propagandists did not fail to try presenting the NKR as an aggressor once more,» he remarked.

At that the expert indicated to variances in the statement language. «Firstly, the territory of the Azerbaijani Republic both within the bounds of the former Azerbaijani Soviet Socialist Republic or any other borders was never recognized by anyone. Secondly, the principle of territorial integrity, Baku likes referring to, is of recommendation nature and can by no means be taken as an international law priority postulate,» Melik-Shahnazaryan remarked.

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan has sent a letter of protest to organizers of Eurovision song contest. The message says that the Ministry «is extremely concerned» that the contest web-site contains the biography of Andre, a singer, who comes from Armenia, which notes he was born in the Nagorno Karabakh Republic. «The fact should be considered as disrespect of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and provocation that can be interpreted as contest organizers' supporting Armenia's aggressive policy,» says the statement of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan.
