Philips announces ultra high-definition plans with new 65-inch TV set

PanARMENIAN.Net - Philips' 4K plans have been announced in the form of the 65PLF9708, which has won an award before even being unveiled publicly, Digital Spy said.

The TV was given the European Ultra HD TV 2013-2014 prize at the European Imaging and Sound Association awards.

More news will be announced by Philips on the UHD set at the IFA technology show in Berlin.

The announcement confirms Philips will be launching a 65-inch UHD TV. Philips also has confirmed that pricing will be "significantly lower" than other 4K models. Sony's current 4K set retails for around £4,000.

"With Ultra HD content the Philips 65PFL9708 offers astonishing depth and clarity and its upscaling talents improve the quality of Blu-ray, DVD and direct broadcast sources. Passive 3D images on this 65-inch TV also look razor-sharp thanks to the screen's greater resolution," said the EISA judges.
