Oscar-nommed Hailee Steinfeld in “Romeo and Juliet” new clip (video)

PanARMENIAN.Net - Romeo and Juliet has debuted a new clip, Digital Spy said.

Stars Hailee Steinfeld and Douglas Booth feature in the famous balcony scene.

Carlo Carlei directed the film from a screenplay by Downton Abbey's Julian Fellowes.

Paul Giamatti, Stellan Skarsgård, Damian Lewis, Kodi Smit-McPhee and Ed Westwick also feature in the movie.

Unlike Baz Luhrmann's memorable modern-day version of Shakespeare's tragic romance - released in 1996 - the new film is set in the original period.

“Like Franco Zeffirelli's adaptation of Shakespeare's tragedy, the film uses the traditional setting of Renaissance Verona. However, since the release of the film's trailer, it has become clear, that the film - unlike any of the previous major film adaptations - will not use Shakespeare's traditional dialogue, and only follow the play's plot. This has led to a controversy, with several critics denouncing the film's advertising as misleading, and losing the play's meaning,” UK media said.

Romeo and Juliet will be released on October 11 in the UK and the U.S.
