Matthew McConaughey in “Dallas Buyers Club” clip

PanARMENIAN.Net - A clip from Dallas Buyers Club has been released, Digital Spy said.

Matthew McConaughey undertook an intensive weight loss regime in order to play Ron Woodroof, a Texas electrician who is diagnosed with advanced AIDS and given 30 days to live.

After a bad experience with the FDA-approved drug AZT, Woodroof began smuggling in alternative medications from around the world and selling them to fellow AIDS patients.

The clip sees Woodroof attempting to outsmart US border officials, who have discovered the drugs in his luggage.

The film co-stars Jared Leto and Jennifer Garner, and is directed by Jean-Marc Valllée (The Secret Adventures of Jules Verne).

Dallas Buyers Club will receive a limited US release on December 6, in time for awards season. The UK release date is February 7, 2014.

“McConaughey's recent run of acclaimed, full-throttle turns in left-field indies (Mud, Killer Joe, Magic Mike) has finally culminated in Dallas Buyers Club in a role that Oscar voters will be powerless to keep off their shortlist. It feels at once crisply tailored to McConaughey's established gifts, and unlike anything we've seen him do before. His air of physical decrepitude is totally convincing, but it's the fear in his acting that counts – the film's most striking effect is watching this legendarily blasé star face up to mortality,” film critic Tim Robey said in a review published at The Telegraph.
