Chinese Oscar hopeful’s “Personal Tailor” release date set

PanARMENIAN.Net - North America-based China Lion has set a December 20 release for Personal Tailor, from Chinese director Feng Xiaogang, to coincide with the comedy feature’s Mainland China debut, Deadline said.

Feng’s latest is about a company that grants wishes to those looking for a single day of escape from their ordinary life. Chinese superstar You Ge leads the cast.

Feng, whose films include 1997′s Dream Factory and the ensemble martial arts drama The Banquet, is set to be honored with a handprint ceremony this week at Hollywood’s TCL Chinese Theatre.

He directed this year’s Chinese official Oscar entry Back to 1942, also starring Tim Robbins and Adrian Brody. China Lion previously handled N.A. distribution on Feng’s Aftershock and If You Are The One: Love and Marriage; going day and date with Mainland China on If You Are The One and Back to 1942 resulted in the distributor’s two highest-grossing debuts.
