Nicolas Cage’s “Season of The Witch” to open Dark Arts season on Film4October 30, 2013 - 11:15 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Film4 Channel, UK broadcaster Channel 4's movie channel, is partnering with the British Film Institute's Gothic film season to present a special Dark Arts season of movies, The Hollywood Reporter said. The season, tying in with the BFI's Gothic: The Dark Heart of Film book, will kick off Oct. 29 on the channel, with the Nicolas Cage starrer Season of The Witch airing on the digital channel. That movie will be followed by Angel Heart, the Robert de Niro and Mickey Rourke contemporary horror classic, and then an outing for The Last Exorcism, followed by a short program with horror meister Eli Roth discussing the film. The partnership, running for six nights on the channel, marks the first time that Film4 and the BFI have worked together to create such complementary programming. For six nights across the Halloween period the channel will share in the BFI’s celebration of the dark heart of film, represented in the BFI Southbank season by four themes: "Monstrous," "The Dark Arts," "Haunted" and "Love is a Devil." Film4 will also unspool silent classic Haxan: Witchcraft Through the Ages (1922), cult favorites Race With the Devil (1975) and The Blood on Satan’s Claw (1971), and more recent films, such as Antichrist (2009) and A Field in England (2013) during the six nights. Other offerings are brought to audiences nationwide with Hallowe’en revivals of The Exorcist (1973) at Vue Cinemas and A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) at Cineworld Cinemas, courtesy of longtime BFI collaborators Park Circus.
