"Forrest Gump" helmer to direct "Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane"

PanARMENIAN.Net - Before he became an Oscar-winning director for the 1994 Tom Hanks starrer "Forrest Gump", Robert Zemeckis first came into the public eye for the 1988 Academy Award-winning live-action/ animation movie "Who Framed Roger Rabbit". Now with his new directorial project, "The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane", the 62-year-old filmmaker is set to go back into the world of animation, wherein incidentally, he will find himself working again on a rabbit character, AceShowbiz said.

This time it's not about Roger Rabbit but the porcelain rabbit whose adventures author Kate DiCamillo writes about in her best-selling children's book. The feature film adaptation of the novel will also reunite Zemeckis with "Forrest Gump" producer Wendy Finerman as they try to recreate the magic they brought to that epic production.

A test for their talent and skill will be how to put together their new movie on a reportedly very low budget, so low that "they're essentially working for nothing," as Finkerman herself revealed during the premiere of the start-studded comedy "Last Vegas" on Tuesday night, October 29. The cost will also be affected by whether the film will be fully animated or contain live action, depending on the script by Jeff Stockwell.

Alongside "The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane", Zemeckis is also set to direct the film adaptation of the 2010 documentary "Marwencol", which will most likely be seen first as it is being slated as his next feature.
