Amazon launches two extra services for mobile developersNovember 5, 2013 - 15:03 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Amazon has launched two additional services for mobile developers to help them run tests and experiments to better optimize their apps and games across iOS, Android and Fire OS. The company’s move comes as it seeks to drive more activity on Fire OS by making it convenient for developers to target several platforms at one go, The Next Web reports. Nearly a month ago, Amazon launched a new program specifically aimed at developers who optimize their apps and games for its Appstore and Fire OS, giving them marketing and economic benefits to improve app discovery and increase sales. The latest services come packaged as a single, free SDK for mobile app developers to track user engagement metrics or test different in-app experiences across all three platforms. Called the Analytics and A/B Testing services, they are aimed at helping developers spend more time on building their apps and games, rather than setting up or scaling backend infrastructure. Analytics: This service provides usage metrics on daily and monthly active devices, sessions, retention, and in-app purchase revenue, so developers can determine how, for example, a new feature on a mobile app is being received by users. A/B Testing: This service lets mobile developers simultaneously test up to five different in-app experiences so they can judge which experience is most successful based on conversion, clicks, or other criteria they define. Results are shown in a simple Web dashboard. “We’ve spent years at Amazon using data, analytics, and A/B testing to continually improve the experience of customers who shop with us. We wanted to bring those same advanced tools to mobile app developers to help them improve their customers’ experience,” said Mike George, Vice President of Amazon Appstore, Games and Cloud Drive.
