Robert Pattinson joins Benedict Cumberbatch in

PanARMENIAN.Net - Robert Pattinson is on board to join a true-story adventure film "The Lost City of Z". The "Cosmopolis" star is set to join "The Fifth Estate" actor Benedict Cumberbatch in the project which will be directed by James Gray, AceShowbiz said.

An adaptation of David Grann's nonfiction book of the same title, the film will follow British soldier-turned-explorer Colonel Percy Harrison Fawcett who was lost in the Amazon while searching for an ancient lost city with his son in a self-funded expedition in the 1920s.

Director Gray once told IndieWire that the movie would have a "slightly more hallucinogenic feel. Because [the protagonist] went to the jungle and sorta went mad."

The "August: Osage County" star is expected to play Colonel Fawcett which was originally linked to Brad Pitt but the "World War Z" actor is now only attached to the project as one of the producers. There is no word on what role Pattinson is going to play. The "Twilight Saga" actor has no movie release this year, but he lines up "The Rover" and "Maps to the Stars" for next year's releases. Cumberbatch will next be seen in "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" and will reprise his role in "The Hobbit: There and Back Again".
