 Erdogan: Turkey supports peaceful settlement of Karabakh conflict November 14, 2013 - 19:30 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The Nagorno Karabakh conflict is not only Baku’s but Ankara’s problem as well, Turkish Prime Minister said. As Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated at the meeting with Azeri President Ilham Aliyev, “being a priority on our foreign policy agenda, the issue is a crucial one in the context of provision of peace in South Caucasus.” “Our unconditional support for Azerbaijan in the peaceful negotiated settlement of the conflict will continue,” the Prime Minister said, noting the OSCE Minsk Group as a responsible party in the success of the process. “U.S., Russia and France must keep the issue in the focus of their attention. Turkey’s possible contribution to peace process was also discussed,” 1news.az quoted Erdogan as saying. Related links:    The conflict between Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan The conflict between Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan broke out as result of the ethnic cleansing launched by the Azeri authorities in the final years of the Soviet Union. The Karabakh War was fought from 1991 (when the Nagorno Karabakh Republic was proclaimed) to 1994 (when a ceasefire was sealed by Armenia, NKR and Azerbaijan). Most of Nagorno Karabakh and a security zone consisting of 7 regions are now under control of NKR defense army.
