South Caucasian Countries to Have Leading Positions in International Politics by Autumn
Decision about putting pressure upon Iran, irrespective of what "pressure" is supposed to mean, will be made by autumn 2006, after the coordination with such countries as Russia and China. In the given context South Caucasian countries appear in the leading positions in the international politics, deputy editor of the Rossiyskaya Gazeta Elmar Huseynov said, when commenting on the future perspectives to solve the Iranian nuclear crisis and its possible effect on the South Caucasian countries.

"This region is vital both for putting pressure upon Iran and for cutting its international ties," Huseynov said, adding that US will definitely need to be present in the region in some sense.

Armenian position is also decisive at this point as there are well-developed economic relations between Yerevan and Tehran. "Apparently, Armenia will finally be forced to join the opposition to Iran," Huseynov assured, adding, "starting in November-December Caucasian states will apparently be mentioned by Washington in its efforts to solve the Iranian problem by force," Trend reports.
