ZTE showcases new modular smartphone at CES

PanARMENIAN.Net - ZTE has showcased a modular smartphone called the Eco-Mobius at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), according to Digital Spy.

The handset consists of removable parts, allowing users to easily upgrade their hardware as technology moves forward.

The phone's camera, RAM, ROM and GPU can be removed and replaced when new versions are released, making it ideal for those who like to stay up to date with the latest specs.

Users will theoretically be able to switch camera lenses depending on the shooting conditions, or swap out their GPU when a technologically-demanding game is released.

The Eco-Mobius is not the first modular smartphone to surface, with Motorola previously announcing that it is exploring the concept.

The ZTE Eco-Mobius is currently in the prototype phase, with a potential release date yet to be announced.
