Torch Procession in Commemoration of Armenian Genocide Victims Held in Yerevan
On the initiative of the Nikol Aghbalian student union of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation Dashnaktsutyun an annual torch procession towards the memorial to the Armenian Genocide victims was held on April 23-24 night. 1500 torches and 300 candles were lit from the burning Turkish state flag. As chairman of the ARFD youth wing Ishkhan Saghtelian informed, over three thousand young people not only from Armenia but also from other states took park in the procession. "The youth gathered to show the whole world that the Armenian people remember the Genocide," he said.
When addressing the action participants member of the ARFD Supreme Body, head of the parliamentary standing committee for foreign relations Armen Rustamian stated that Armenia has not won the struggle yet, since "Turkey keeps on falsifying the history pretending the victim." "The struggle for the Armenian Genocide recognition was the most efficient this year. The Armenians proved the whole world that the Genocide recognition is not Armenia's domestic matter. Our struggle serves as a model for many states and it finds understanding," Armen Rustamian said. He also informed that a memorial to the Armenian Genocide victims will be unveiled in Marseilles April 24. "This will be a small Tsitsernakaberd", he said adding that the struggle of the Armenian people will be crowned with victory and the Armenian Genocide will be recognized, IA Regnum reports.
