Jennifer Aniston in talks to star in “Mean Moms” comedy

PanARMENIAN.Net - After successful collaborations with New Line on the hit comedies “Horrible Bosses” and “We’re the Millers,” Jennifer Aniston is in early talks to star in the studio’s upcoming movie “Mean Moms,” TheWrap reported.

Beth McCarthy-Miller is directing the adaptation of Rosalind Wiseman’s advice book, though New Line has not given the movie an official greenlight yet. Should Aniston’s deal close, the project is expected to move forward quickly.

The adult-themed comedy is in the spirit of “Mean Girls,” and while it is not a sequel in any way, both projects are based on advice books by Wiseman. ”Mean Moms” is based on “Queen Bee Moms and King Pin Dads: Dealing With the Parents, Teachers, Coaches, and Counselors Who Can Make — or Break — Your Child’s Future,” while “Mean Girls” is based on “Queen Bees and Wannabes.”

“Mean Moms” follows a happily married mother of two who moves from a small town to the high class suburbs where she is faced with confronting the cutthroat world of competitive parenting.

Adam Shankman and Jennifer Gibgot are producing through their Offspring Entertainment banner along with Jill Messick, who brought the project to Offspring before it landed at New Line.

Aniston is coming off New Line’s “Horrible Bosses” sequel, which hits theaters in November. The first film grossed $209 million worldwide, while New Line’s “We’re the Millers” was the surprise hit of summer 2013, grossing $269 million worldwide. The “Friends” veteran next stars in Dan Schechter’s Elmore Leonard adaptation “Life of Crime” and Peter Bogdanovich’s showbiz comedy “Squirrels to the Nuts.”
