Paul Thomas Anderson’s “Inherent Vice” crime comedy gets release date

PanARMENIAN.Net - Writer-director Paul Thomas Anderson’s dark crime comedy “Inherent Vice” will open on Dec. 12, distributor Warner Bros. said Tuesday, Feb 25, according to TheWrap.

Based on the 2009 novel by Thomas Pynchon, “Inherent Vice” stars Joaquin Phoenix, Josh Brolin, Owen Wilson, Benicio del Toro, Reese Witherspoon and Martin Short.

The Oscar-friendly date puts it up against Fox’s Ridley Scott drama “Exodus” and the Weinstein Company’s Nicole Kidman family film “Paddington.”

“Vice” was one of a several movies the studio scheduled Tuesday:

The movie version of “Entourage” will hit theaters on June 12, 2015. Adrian Grenier, Kevin Connolly, Kevin Dillon, Jerry Ferrara and Jeremy Piven have all agreed to reprise their roles from the HBO series in the Doug Ellin-directed feature. It will be going up against Universal’s “Jurassic World.”

“The Intern,” the Nancy Meyers-directed Anne Hathaway-Robert De Niro comedy, will roll out on Sept. 25, 2015. Sony’s animated “Hotel Transylvania 2″ is also set for that date.

“The Conjuring 2,” a follow-up to last year’s sleeper horror hit, will open on Oct. 23, 2015. The first film’s director, James Wan, is only producing the sequel.

“Mean Moms,” directed by Beth McCarthy-Miller and based on the book by Rosalind Wiseman, the author who inspired “Mean Girls,” will open on May 8, 2015.

“How to Be Single,” a followup to the 2009 hit “He’s Just Not That Into You,” will roll out on Feb. 12, 2016.

New Line has also slotted an untitled horror movie for Oct. 13.
