Cesar winner “Me, Myself & Mum” to close Focus On French Cinema Fest

PanARMENIAN.Net - American premieres of Cesar Award-winning French films including “Me, Myself and Mum” and “Nine Months Stretch” are among the titles on tap for the 10th anniversary Focus on French Cinema festival, the Greenwich, Conn., fest that partners this year with New York’s French Institute Alliance Francaise (FIAF) and the Festival du Film Francophone d’Angouleme, Variety said.

The fest will open with “Nine Months Stretch,” the black comedy that was a box office hit in France and won Cesars for actress Sandrine Kiberlain and for screenwriter Albert Dupontel, who also directed. This year’s Focus on French Cinema will also include the Stateside bows of Sylvestre Sbille’s “I’ll Bury You,” Christophe Offenstein’s “Turning Tide” and Julien Leclercq’s “Gibraltar.”

The five-Cesar winning “Me, Myself and Mum”, Guillaume Gallienne’s memoir about his adolescence with his mother, will close the festival. The title’s awards haul included Cesars for best film as well as a thesping statue for star Gallienne, who plays both his mother and his teenage self in the pic.

Fest will screen a total of 20 recent releases from Francophone territories around the world. Screenings run April 4-6 at a cinema in Greenwich before the April 8 closing night shifts to Manhattan, where “Me, Myself and Mum” screens at the Alliance Francaise’s midtown theater.
