Woody Allen to shoot next film in Rhode Island, lensing set for July

PanARMENIAN.Net - Woody Allen has opted to shoot his next film in Rhode Island, with lensing starting in July, Variety said.

Allen shot his last film, “Magic in the Moonlight,” on the French Riviera. His previous “Blue Jasmine” was shot in New York and San Francisco.

Variety reported last month that Emma Stone and Joaquin Phoenix had been set to star with Allen expected to write, produce and direct.

No distributor is yet on board. Sony Classics is opening “Magic in the Moonlight,” starring Stone, on July 25 and has handled distribution in the U.S. on Allen’s last six films, dating back to “Whatever Works.”

Casting on the untitled film is beginning next week with the movie is described as a “contemporary story” with academics, graduate students and middle and working-class characters.

The news was first reported by the Boston Globe.
