Google hints at impending launch of Android 5.0.?

Google may have just hinted at the impending launch of Android 5.0. A tweet from the web giant promoting a new World Cup feature shows smartphones with their system clocks set to 5:00, Digital Spy said.

Although the link appears tenuous, Google has used clocks to depict the numbering of its next mobile operating system since Android 2.3.

Furthermore, all of the Android devices listed on Google Play have their clocks set to 4:40, a reference to the current Android 4.4 KitKat.

Previous reports suggest that the next iteration of the software will bring closer integration between Android, Chrome and Search, but specific details are yet to be revealed.

Google is expected to lift the lid on Android 5.0 at its I/O conference later this month.
