I was respected, I was feared.” The Sept. 12 release was directed by Michaël R. Roskam (“Bullhead”) and written by “Mystic River” author Dennis Lehane. “The Drop” follows a lonely bartender (Hardy) who works at a Brooklyn watering hole, which is actually just a money drop where criminals store dirty cash they can't deposit in a bank. Under the heavy hand of his employer and cousin (Gandolfini), the blue collar worker finds himself at the center of a robbery gone awry and entwined in an investigation that digs deep into the neighborhood's past where friends, families, and foes all work together to make a living — no matter the cost.
