Twitter ventures into e-commerce, tests buy button

PanARMENIAN.Net - Twitter is making its first stride into the e-commerce sector with the launch of a buy button, according to Digital Spy.

The microblogging site is testing the feature on a limited number of US users initially.

19 partners have been signed up for now, including products from Demi Lovato, Product (RED) and Burberry, ranging from concert tickets to limited edition items.

The button will be presented inside tweets, giving users the chance to buy an item directly. From there, it is possible to enter payment and shipping details.

Twitter is working with e-commerce specialists Fancy, Gumroad, Musictoday and Stripe to get the feature off the ground.

"Your payment and shipping information is encrypted and safely stored after your first transaction, so you can easily buy on Twitter in the future without having to re-enter all of your information," Twitter said in a blog post.

"Of course, you can always remove this information from your account. Your credit card is processed securely and won't be shared with the seller without your permission."
