Mozilla to launch 64-bit web browser next spring

PanARMENIAN.Net - Mozilla has announced that it will launch a 64-bit web browser next spring, Digital Spy said.

Firefox 37 will be available to download on March 31, 2015, putting users in good stead for the launch of Microsoft's Windows 10 later in the year.

Mozilla is thought to be implementing the move over fears that Microsoft will withdraw x86 support in its next operating system, although the computing firm is yet to confirm that this is the case.

"64-bit is incredibly exciting to those of us who understand what it offers in stability, performance, and security. We're the minority. Most of the world has no idea what 64-bit means," said Firefox product manager Javaun Moradi to his fellow employees during an internal meeting.

"They can already do everything they want to do online. Many will only notice 64-bit if their experience breaks. Our job is to deliver the benefits - even if they're invisible - and avoid the breakage."

Firefox's main competitors in the PC sector, Google Chrome and Internet Explorer, already offer 64-bit editions.
