Magnolia Pictures nabs

PanARMENIAN.Net - Magnolia Pictures has picked up U.S. rights to Roy Andersson’s A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting On Existence, which won the top prize, the Golden Lion, at this year’s Venice Film Festival. Directors Darren Aronofsky and Alejandro González Inarritu are lending their support to the film by serving as presenters for its U.S. release, which is expected to take place in 2015, The Hollywood Reporter said.

Pigeon is the third film in a trilogy from Andersson that includes Songs from the Second Floor and You the Living. Pigeon consists of comic vignettes that are tied together through the misadventures of two traveling salesmen peddling novelty items.

“We were swept away by the humor, beauty and sheer originality of this film,” Magnolia president Eamonn Bowles said. “For admirers of Roy Andersson, a new film from him is a true cinematic gift. For people that haven’t experienced his films before, A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence is a terrific place to start."
