Samsung 5G achieves speeds 30 times faster than 4G

PanARMENIAN.Net - Samsung has announced that it has achieved the fastest mobile data speeds ever recorded during its recent 5G trials, Digital Spy reported.

The South Korean firm reported top speeds of 7.5Gbps amid the tests, around 30 times faster than the average 4G connection.

Samsung also managed to maintain a stable and uninterrupted 1.2Gbps connection while travelling at 100 km/h.

The tests were carried out over a 28GHz 5G network, with Samsung developing its own millimetre wave technology to counterbalance the frequency's short communication range.

However, 5G is some years from consumer rollout as the standard has not been ratified and networks are yet to get their hands on spectrum.

Earlier this week, Samsung announced that it is experimenting with a new Wi-Fi standard that will increase download speeds by five times.
