Sean Bean joins Matt Damon in Ridley Scott’s “Martian”

PanARMENIAN.Net - Sean Bean has joined Matt Damon in The Martian, the space survival drama Ridley Scott is directing for Twentieth Century Fox, The Hollywood Reporter said.

The story centers on an astronaut (Damon) who is stranded in a Martian colony and struggles to survive, hoping he can last long enough for NASA to organize a rescue mission.

The cast already includes such high-profile names as Jessica Chastain, Jeff Daniels, Kate Mara, Michael Pena and Kristen Wiig.

Bean will play a NASA flight director.

Scott is producing with Simon Kinberg and Aditya Sood, who originally found the book on which the film is based. Drew Goddard wrote the script.

Bean is currently starring on TNT’s crime drama Legends. He also will appear in Jupiter Ascending, the upcoming sci-fi epic from the Wachowski siblings, and recently wrapped Pixels, the Adam Sandler comedy that is due for release July 24, 2015.
