Tom Rothman's TriStar Productions has optioned a YA romance book from Jennifer E. Smith, The Hollywood Reporter said.

Hello, Goodbye and Everything in Between will center on two teens revisiting the significant places from their relationship on the night before they leave for their respective colleges. Over the course of 12 hours, they'll determine whether or not to stay together. The book — published by Little, Brown — hits stores in September 2015.

TriStar’s new literary vp Ryan Doherty brought the book to TriStar, and Nicole Brown will be shepherding for the studio.

Smith wrote the popular YA books The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight and This Is What Happy Looks Like. The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight was first optioned by Reese Witherspoon’s partner (Warm Bodies producer) Bruna Papandrea for production company Pacific Standard, with Lance Black attached to direct.

Her most recent book, The Geography of You and Me, hit stores on April 15.

There's a slew of YA romance/drama stories about high school teens in development, due in part to the success of this summer's The Fault in Our Stars. The adaptation of John Green's next book, Paper Towns, about a teen boy who goes looking for his next-door neighbor after she disappears after a night of high jinks, is currently in preproduction at Fox; Rainbow Rowell's Eleanor & Park, about two misfit teens who fall in love, is at DreamWorks; and Warner Bros. is developing an adaptation of I'll Give You the Sun, about teen twins whose relationship falls apart after a tragedy.
