AMC nabs "The Night Manager" Tom Hiddleston-Hugh Laurie miniseriesOctober 31, 2014 - 17:44 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - AMC reportedly has won the bidding war for a BBC miniseries starring Tom Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie. "The Night Manager", an adaptation of John le Carre's 1993 novel of the same name, has been given a straight-to-series order on the U.S. network, AceShowbiz said. AMC will co-produce the series with BBC One and Ink Factory. A source tells THR the plan is to have the project as a "six- or eight-part miniseries" with commercial time included. The novel revolves around a former British soldier who is drawn into a sting operation involving black market weapons after he goes to work for a luxury hotel. Hiddleston is attached as the former soldier Jonathan Pine turns a hotel night auditor while Laurie plays black market dealer Richard Onslow. This would be a TV return for Laurie since his run on "House M.D.". Hiddleston is more known in the U.S. as the villainous Loki in Marvel's "Thor", but he has appeared in various British series before. AMC is yet to comment on the report, which came a week after its parent company AMC Networks acquired a 49.9% stake in the U.K. broadcaster's U.S. cable network BBC America.
