Sony Pictures faces embarrassment over recent data breachDecember 5, 2014 - 19:22 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Sony Pictures Entertainment is facing embarrassment over its recent data breach following claims that the firm stored scores of passwords in a folder called 'Password'. Documents leaked online by hackers purportedly reveal that the corporation's movie arm housed 139 sensitive documents containing information about employees and actors in the obviously-named location, Digital Spy reveals citing BuzzFeed. The leaked files included social security numbers for Sony staff, as well as Hollywood stars such as Sylvester Stallone, director Judd Apatow and Rebel Wilson. A group called the Guardians of Peace have taken credit for the data breach, with rumours suggesting that it originated from North Korea. Sony Pictures film The Interview was vehemently denounced by the Asian country's government, but Pyongyang has denied any involvement in the hack. The company's CEO Michael Lynton and co-chairman Amy Pascal described the hack as a "brazen attack on our company, our employees and our business partners" in an internal memo issued in the wake of the incident.
